Moots are amongst the most prestigious and rewarding competitions a student can participate in at NUS Law. Many distinguished members of the legal profession, including senior counsels and judges, were once top mooters at NUS. Given the prestige of mooting competitions, MDC occupies a truly privileged position. It is responsible for organising various local mooting competitions such as the B.A. Mallal Moots, the Advocacy Cup and the WongPartnership International Commercial Arbitration Moot amongst others. Each member of MDC will have the unique opportunity to liaise with and work alongside distinguished members of the legal profession. These are rare opportunities that would enhance any law student’s experiences in law school and position them for an exciting future career. Members also have priority in attending specially designed training sessions, such as viva rehearsal workshops and moot practice sessions with practitioners, all of which come in useful for mandatory graded moot assignments in Year One. MDC also invites guest speakers to share relevant areas of interest with members, such as their international mooting experiences and work life in various firms.
